In the magnificent hall of the extraordinary building of Scuola Grande di San Rocco in Venice, the latest edition of the Croatian Music Center and the Matica hrvatska Branch in Sveta Nedelja was presented on 17th November 2023 – the first contemporary transcription of a valuable monument of Croatian and European musical baroque awarded with the Golden Charter of Matica hrvatska, the collection “Madrigali concertati” by the Istrian composer Gabriel Usper, published on the occasion of the 400th anniversary of the first printing. It was a special privilege to present the edition in the Venetian brotherhood of St. Roch, where Gabriel Usper worked as an instrumentalist 400 years ago. The book was presented by musicologist Ivana Petravić, who along with Professor Ennio Stipčević prepared the contemporary transcription, and editors Martina Mičija Palić and Robert Palić. The ceremony included a musical program by members of the Projekt Lazarus ensemble: sopranos Hana Ilčić and Petra Cik, and bass Robert Palić, under the artistic direction of maestro Darijan Ivezić. The program is organized under the auspices of the City of Zagreb and with the help of Consulate of the Republic of Croatia in Trieste and Scuola Grande di San Rocco.
The main motto of the programme on which the idea of the HGC is based is: “Let’s listen to Croatian music!”
